Itinerary

  • Drive south from Marrakech on a scenic route through the Tichka Pass (7000 feet) into the Atlas Mountains. Visit Ksar Ait Ben Haddou on the way, a setting for films like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia….This village has been classified as a world heritage site. Then head to Ouarzazate, a former trading caravan post and take the ksbah route along the Valley of Roses to Dades. Night at the hotel * 06 hours drive.

  • Follow the plain to the spectacular Todghra gorges then through a succession of Berber villages to Erfoud known for its date markets. You’ll drive a stretch of dirt road through sand dunes, passing fossil quarries and nomadic tents in arid areas where nomads herd their goats and camels. Share a glass of tea with nomads before head towards the small dunes, meet your camels and take a ride to admire the sunset before joining your private camp. Dinner and night in camp * 05 hours drive.

  • Head to Risani, an important ancient caravan trading center in southern Morocco and the birthplace of the Alawites, the current ruling dynasty in Morocco, a short visit to Ksar Ouled Abdelhalim and the incredible souks. Continue along the kasbah road through the Tinjdad oasis, from Tinghrir to Ouarzazate.

  • A short visit to Tourirt Kasbah, the main residence of El Pacha El Glaoui, a former Berber ruler of southern Morocco. Visit the atlas studios before taking the scenic Tichka road to the plains of Marrakech.
